Freedom House—Supervisor of Social Worker

Hours & Pay: Part-Time (1-2 hours a month), $15/hour

Education:
-Possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of social work & 1 year of supervised experience OR
-Possess a master’s degree in psychology or counseling with 2 years of experience (with 1 year being supervised). Experience needs to be in the area of child welfare services.
Age: 21 years of age or older
Summary of Job Responsibilities: Overseeing the Social Worker(s) at the Freedom House
Job Duties
The duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Maintaining Program Structure:
- In-person supervision to the social worker at the facility, 1 hour a month per social worker
- Be available for consultation when there is an emergency
- Attend staff meetings when possible
Develop and Model Healthy Living for Participants:
- Maintain an active, growing relationship with the Lord
- Develop intentional connections with the participants
- Cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect through words and behaviors
- Lead by example in modeling a healthy lifestyle in the body, soul, and spirit
- Provide direction and encouragement to program participants
- Practice and teach healthy boundaries to program participants
- Navigate interpersonal conflict by speaking truth in love
- Provide support and crisis help as is necessary
- Assist with providing healthy activities and community for participants
Additional Qualifications:
- Never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application and evidence of having made efforts to obtain and evaluate references from previous employers. We will offer them the change to complete/submit Form 470-2310.
- Documentation of at least two professional, educational or personal references that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around children
- If a master’s level candidate, willing to pursue or maintain professional licensure by the state of Iowa
- Satisfactory preliminary criminal history background check determination and a satisfactory fingerprint records check determination
- Participate in all required trainings and show competency in skill areas of training content
- Must be 21 years of age or older

- Must pass Motor Vehicle Record check
